History
In 1907, Henry Rasmussen and his partner Georg Abeking established a shipyard in Lemwerder, Germany, named after its founders: Abeking & Rasmussen.

The company initially focused on producing motor and sailing boats made from steel and wood, known for their excellent stability and performance.

During World War I and World War II, the shipyard supplied torpedo boats to the German Navy and continues to collaborate with the country’s armed forces to this day.

By the 1950s, Abeking & Rasmussen had established itself as a versatile company capable of building luxury yachts for the private sector. Over its century-long history, the shipyard has launched more than 6,500 hulls.
Facilities
Abeking & Rasmussen currently operates five assembly halls, workshops, and offices, along with an internal harbor and a synchrolift for launching vessels. The shipyard employs approximately 450 highly skilled professionals.

In 2017, a new production facility was inaugurated at the shipyard, specifically designed to accommodate the assembly of yachts up to 125 meters in length.
Range
Abeking & Rasmussen, with its extensive technical expertise, can bring any client’s most ambitious interior design vision to life. Collaborations with top designers such as Reymond Langton, Joseph Dirand Architecture, Winch Design, Focus Yacht, and Harrison Eidsgaard elevate yachts to true works of art.

Among their most notable projects are:

  • M/Y EXCELLENCE (2019): This futuristic 80-meter megayacht features a stunning three-deck glass atrium.
  • M/Y LIVA (2023): A 118-meter yacht equipped with a Triton submarine for 7 passengers and an underwater lounge, Neptune, with a 5-square-meter viewing window.
  • M/Y SOARING (formerly M/Y STARLUST, 2020): A 68-meter yacht designed by the emerging Focus Yacht Design studio.
  • M/Y AVIVA: A 98-meter yacht featuring a 20-meter tennis court. For this project, Abeking & Rasmussen expanded its assembly facilities in 2017 to accommodate vessels up to 125 meters.

One of their innovative projects is the SILVER CLOUD (2008), a 41-meter yacht that was the world’s first to use SWATH@A&R technology. This allowed for 60% more living space compared to similar-sized superyachts and exceptional seakeeping capabilities, earning the company the "World Superyacht Technology Award." SILVER CLOUD successfully completed a circumnavigation, covering 48,000 nautical miles.
Innovation and specialization
Today, Abeking & Rasmussen specializes in the construction of motor megayachts ranging from 45 to 95 meters in length.

Their hulls are crafted from a wide variety of materials, including mahogany, steel, and aluminum alloys. Additionally, some of their vessels feature the innovative SWATH@A&R technology.

SWATH@A&R (Small Waterplane Twin Hull) is a catamaran-style hull design with a minimal waterline area, which provides excellent stability and high speed in all weather conditions.
