In 1973, Fernando Amerio founded Permare Group, which initially focused solely on servicing yachts from other manufacturers. Ten years later, the company began its own yacht production, gradually increasing its capacity to five hulls per year. The most successful line for the shipyard has been the Amer series, launched in the early 2000s, which gave the brand its name.

Over its five-decade history, the shipyard has launched more than 100 yachts of various sizes.

The Permare Group operates three production facilities: Sanremo Ship in Portosol, Cantieri del Ponente in Imperia, and Cantieri del Mediterraneo shipyard in Bussana Vecchia (San Remo).

In addition to yacht construction, the company offers comprehensive services including maintenance, repairs, and storage.

Amer Yachts, the Italian shipyard Permare, has a fleet primarily based on the Amer series models: Amer 86, Amer 92, Amer 110, Amer 116, and Amer Cento Quad. Currently, they offer three new motor yacht models introduced in 2020: Amer 120, Amer F100, and Amer 950. The design of these models was crafted by the renowned Verme Projects studio, which also collaborates with prestigious brands like Azimut Yachts, Benetti, Ferretti Group, Wally, and Palmer Johnson.

The shipyard is also actively engaged in custom projects. At present, they have two models under construction: the 41-meter Amer Steel Explorer (set to launch in 2025) and the 70-meter Amer 70 Steel (scheduled for 2026).

Staying at the forefront of technological innovation, Amer Yachts is committed to incorporating cutting-edge technologies into their production process. In an effort to reduce environmental impact, the shipyard is focusing on developing hybrid propulsion systems that provide high speed with minimal fuel consumption.

The company’s commitment to excellence has been recognized with numerous awards at prestigious events. Notably, the Amer Cento won "Most Innovative Yacht 24-36 meters" at the 2014 awards; the Amer 116' was honored as "Yacht of the Year" at the 49th International Boat Show in Genoa; and the Amer 94 Twin received accolades at the 2018 International Design Award (IDA) and the Boat Builder Awards for "Yacht Innovation" and "Environmental Initiative."
