History
The company known as Guy Couach was founded by Albert Couach in 1897 as a ship engine manufacturing plant located in the Arcachon Bay on France's Atlantic coast, near Bordeaux. However, it wasn't until 50 years later, under the management of Albert's grandson, Guy Couach, that the company expanded into the luxury leisure boat market. This shift led to the launch of the first weekend yacht series, Arcoa, and the construction of a new shipyard in Gujan-Mestras, near Arcachon, to meet the growing demand.
In the early 1970s, Guy Couach began using Kevlar composite as the primary material for yacht hulls, marking a significant innovation in yacht construction.
In 2005, to expand its production capacity, the company acquired IMS Shipyard and rebranded itself as Couach Yachts. However, six years later, following its acquisition by the Nepteam holding company, the business was relaunched under the new brand name Chantier Naval Couach. This relaunch was marked by the launch of the 50-meter motor yacht Couach 5000 Fly.
