History
Kockums traces its origins back to 1840 when the successful entrepreneur Frans Henrik Kockum established a small workshop with a forge in southern Malmö. Within 50 years, this workshop evolved into a conglomerate of factories and production facilities, including a shipyard.
The shipbuilding division began to take shape towards the end of the 19th century, and by the mid-20th century, Kockums had become one of the largest shipbuilding enterprises in the world.
On July 22, 2014, Kockums was acquired and became part of the defense company Saab AB.
