History
Feadship's history traces back to 1849 when two Dutch shipyards, Royal Van Lent and Royal de Vries, joined forces to create and export vessels with exclusive designs.

However, it wasn’t until a century later, in 1951, that the company made its mark in the superyacht segment. This breakthrough came with the construction of custom yachts commissioned by prominent figures such as Henry Ford and Malcolm Forbes.

The popularity of these luxury vessels and the subsequent growth in orders pushed the shipbuilder to expand its production capabilities, innovate construction techniques, and transition to new materials. Notably, in 1955, the shipyard fully transitioned from wood to steel and aluminum, setting new standards in the industry.
Facilities
Today, Feadship oversees two historic companies that have earned the prestigious "Royal" designation:

  • Van Lent: Located on Kaag Island, this shipyard features two dry docks and two assembly halls up to 100 meters in length. It also operates a supplementary yard in Amsterdam, designed for building yachts up to 160 meters.
  • De Vries: This shipyard, which houses Feadship's headquarters in Aalsmeer, spans 50,000 square meters and includes three covered assembly halls where 435 specialists work. An additional facility in Makkum offers two dry docks, measuring 110 and 120 meters, with a workforce of 400.

Collectively, Feadship's production sites cover 200,000 square meters, employing over 2,000 people and producing up to 12 superyachts and megayachts annually.

Feadship also owns De Voogt Naval Architects, the world's largest naval engineering firm with a century-long history. De Voogt has been instrumental in designing the majority of Feadship's models. Additionally, renowned designers and marine architects such as Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design, Bannenberg & Rowell, and Andrew Winch Designs are regularly involved in Feadship projects.
Range
Feadship specializes in building custom transatlantic and high-speed superyachts ranging from 40 to 119 meters in length, along with bespoke models from the F45 Vantage and Lagoon series (34 meters).

Some of the shipyard’s most iconic motor megayachts include:

  • M/Y SAVANNAH (83 meters): Featuring an innovative design and a hybrid propulsion system with electric drive, this yacht sets a new standard for environmental sustainability in megayacht construction.
  • M/Y VENUS (78 meters): Designed with a minimalist exterior and large glass panels, this yacht was tailored to meet the specific vision of Apple Inc. co-founder Steve Jobs.
  • M/Y ANNA (110 meters): The flagship of Feadship, this yacht was built for billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev in 2018 and holds the title of the largest yacht ever constructed in the Netherlands.

Currently, Feadship is working on the 76-meter Feadship Van Lent 825 and the 72-meter PROJECT SAKURA, both set to be launched in 2024.
